Hang that “too small to wear” outfit in a very obvious place. This will help you find a source of focus as you lose weight. Whenever you are being tempted, all you need to do is look at the item of clothing, and you will be reminded whey you are making so much effort. It’s a great source of encouragement, and a great way to stay on track with your diet.

Avocados are a great diet food when eaten in moderation. Although they’re high in fat, avocados contain mostly healthy fats. Avocados are silky and delicious, making them extremely satisfying to eat. A veggie taco with avocado instead of ground beef is just as delicious and satisfying, much healthier, and the meat isn’t missed at all.

If you are regularly eating things that are bad for you, you are likely doing it for comfort. You need to understand what makes you want to snack on these types of comfort foods. Joseph asks…

Exercises that burn fat?

I’m 62kg and 5’8”…My daily calorie intake is no more 1800 cals a day given the fact that I have a sedentary lifestyle and I don’t really even eat that much the past month.I’ve noticed some bad cellulite on my thighs lately so I said ”this is it,I’m going to the gym”..I plan on going 4 to 5 times a week for an hour and I want to of course get rid of the cellulite but also the extra fat I have on my belly and thighs…My arms could use some exercise as well…So what do you suggest I do?..Like what kind of exercises to achieve the results I want?…..I know I need to do a lot of cardio but I’m not really an expert when it comes to these things,so help is greatly appreciated…=D
oh and of course I’ll eat in a healthier way,as healthy as I can that is because my choice of food is quite limited…=(

I recommend doing a variety of all sorts of activities, like jumproping, jumping jacks, hula hooping, crunches, situps, pullups, pushups, planks, jackknives, stretching, lifting weights, yoga, pilates, squats, lungs, bicycling, swimming, running, work out CD’s, and strength training. Doing as many different activities as you can that use different muscles is important- it will help you get so much more toned, and lose more weight. Just try and fit as much exercise as you can in a day.

Robert asks…

Is Eating eggs everyday bad?

So I eat 2 eggs ( boiled ) about everyday. This is my breakfast.

Protein powder + water + banana in blender ( taste so good ) <– adds up to about 160-200 calories
with two eggs ( boiled ) and some almonds
All together that's around 350 calories for breakfast right there.

Will eggs help me burn belly fat? I’m 15. 120 pounds and 5’7. I’m fit for my age ( i work out lifting 2 times a week, and recently started to do like 10-15 minute runs in the morning doing 6.5-7 mph on a treadmill.
I’m trying to gain muscle and loose fat. I eat protein after my lifting days and then do cardio on the days I don’t lift. I’m and athletic and have an athletic body and have a flat stomach but there is still some fat on me that i want off so that my stomach looks more toned. I figured that my breakfast is healthy. Will those foods give me energy? Is the fat in eggs ( the yolk ) bad or good fat. Is it the kind of fat that are like in almonds…the good fats?

I eat around 1600-1700 calories a day. I don’t ever eat junk and eat really healthy. I love being fit :) thanks!

Editor answers:

At 15, 5’7- you are beyond perfect. Guys dont want a stick thin girl so unless you want to be a stick thin model or something…your body is much nicer this weigh.

Mary asks…

Jogging after a meal?

How long do I have to wait after having dinner until I can go for a jog, so that I can burn fat rather than the food in my belly.
Also, how long should I jog for in order to lose belly fat and get a 6-pack? I am skinny, not fat at all, but want to lose all the fat on my belly.

Editor answers:

Normal person average is to wait 2 hours, but it varies depending on individual metabolism.

To lose belly fat and get 6 pack, jog or cycling for about half an hour. When jogging and cycling, it doesn’t have to be ‘tough’, just keep it steady for a longer period of time. Half hour is minimum, 45 mins is best. This is to burn out all the calories.

Then lie on ground near a wall, sit your butt close to the wall so that both your legs are on the wall and your body lie on the ground, forming a 90 degree. Keep your butt to the wall at all time. Move your hands up and touch your toes. As you do that, your butt may move out leaving the wall a bit, sit them back to the wall. Continue doing some cycles on this. You will feel very effective 6 pack ache or burning effect without hurting your back.

Do 30 reach up straight, 30 right hand to left toe, 30 left hand to right toe, rest and breath 50 times.

Repeat above 3 times, 5 times 8 times or 10 times as you get stronger

Gym Membership

March 3rd, 2012 No comments

Donald asks…

How much for a gym membership at 24 hour fitness for a month?

OK i am on summer vacation right now and i only want to go to the gym for a month. I wanted to gain some muscle mass. And i’ve never been to the gym so i was wondering how much would it cost for me to make a membership or I was also wondering will they just let me not make a membership and just pay each day i am there separately?

Editor answers:

Paying each day separately is going to cost much more in the long run. If you are in school and are out for summer break ask about summer specials for students, which should probably cost around $75 or so (for the entire summer). You can get a 2-week free trial to see how you like the gym and then decide if you want to continue working out there.

On a side note, lifting weights for only a month is not going to give you much muscle mass, I hate to break it to you. If you spent the entire summer working out then you’d see more of a difference. I’m not trying to discourage you from working out at all, I just don’t want your expectations to be set too high and then be disappointed when you’re not shredded by mid-July. You need to be realistic about what you can accomplish in a month.

Mandy asks…

Do you have to have a bank account to start a gym membership?

I wanted to get a gym membership at XSport by my house. But I don’t have a bank account. Do I have to have a bank account or could i just pay each time by cash? Also does anyone know if there is a sign up fee at xsport?

Editor answers:

Call XSport and ask them. Personally, I would say no to both, but I’m not sure.

Cheers!!

Sandra asks…

Can I deduct my gym membership fees on my federal taxes if my doctor prescribes it for health reasons?

My doctor told me that I have to join a gym because I have just been diagnosed diabetes and am severely overweight. Can I write off the membership costs and any personal training fees on my federal taxes as a legitimate medical expense?

Editor answers:

Although medical treatment for obesity is deductible, the IRS specifically states that gym membership dues, even though recommended for health reasons, are not deductible.

Quote from IRS Pub 502:

You cannot include membership dues at a gym, health club, or spa as medical expenses, but you can include separate fees charged there as weight loss activities.

George asks…

does eating yoplait yogurt while ur on a diet harmful?like losing belly fat?

well i need to eat something atleast.is yoplait good for diets?while trying to lose belly fat

Editor answers:

Although low in calories, yogurt has lots of sugar, and so is not the best thing for a diet (read the label). If you are having it for a meal, you are probably still ging to be hungry after you eat it. You would be better off, and much more satisfied with a piece of lean chicken with some salad.

John asks…

what is the best exsercise and diet program If I want to Lose 4inches of belly fat and 3inches on my arms?

I also want to lift my fanny PLEASE SOMEONE HELP! Is this possible to happen in 8 weeks?

Editor answers:

The bad news is that there isn’t really any way to target specific spots for fat loss.

The good news is that you can target specific spots for muscle growth, which will make you look better, feel better, and lose fat. The answer is to eat right and exercise (including lifting weights). For more information on the actual “how” part, check out this page: http://www.stumptuous.com/cms/index.php

You might not get to your ideal body in 8 weeks, but if you work hard, I promise you will see results.

Robert asks…

Football player needs to lose FAT!?

I’m a football player, but I need to lose weight to look good.
I really don’t care about the scale. I want to lose FAT! I’m 14, close to 200 lbs. I’m overweight, but I don’t really look it. I have a 32 in waist and not sure about the chest.

I’m playing Offensive Tackle this coming season and I am big enough and I’m a great blocker. We lift weights/run three times a week starting this week.

I’ve been lifting weights at my school since January! Squats, Bench, Incline Bench, Power Clean, Upright Rows, Curls, ect ect ect. I squat 205. I bench 135, I curl 65, and power clean 115.

I haven’t seen any results at all!

I need to lose FAT! Is it because I don’t run? I hate running. I need to lose the man boobs, belly, and love handles. I want to look good before the season starts.

Plus, all of my friends are at the pool with the girls and I HATE taking my shirt off.

I need HELP!

Editor answers:

I played OT in high school and OG in college.

If you want to lose the extras you need to kick up the cardio and change your lifting routines. Change things up and try new exercises. A lift / work out should always be hard and you should always be giving as much as you can.

You need to make sure your adding in extras. For example, on a chest day you need to do more then just bench and incline. Change up the incline and use dumb bells and push yourself. For other exercises try dumbbell flies, cable flies, pull overs, pushups etc.

If you don’t like running try the stair master, elliptical, bike, etc. But a key item to remember is that running is the best way to go. You can spend 30 minutes to an hour on some of the other machines but if you feel like you didn’t get a work out, then chances are out then you probably didn’t.

Also, change your diet. Being a big guy, I played at 6’3 320 in college, I know its not easy. But big guys aren’t given a great physique like little guys are. You don’t need to starve your self by any means, but cut out junk food, fast food, etc. Stick to eating healthy food and try to eat 5 small meals a day. Also, as long as you work out extremely hard and cut out the the junk food, you should be fine.

Last thing. As far as your belly and midsection. That stuff is the hardest to lose. People say do more crunches and abs. Both of which are great exercises, core strength is vital to an olineman, but no matter how many crunches or situps you do, you will never have a good stomach unless you lose some of the fat first. Try adding 15 minutes of ab work to each of your work outs and trying the other methods above. You will lose the extra stuff that you want and be in better shape for when camp comes.

Thomas asks…

How can a 13 year old boy lose some weight in the. Belly area? How can I lose weight in the chest area?

I’m a 13 year old boy. I’m 5 foot 6 Inches tall, and weigh 113 pounds. How can I lose some weight? What’s the best way to eliminate belly fat, and what’s the best way to eliminate the infamous “man boobs?”

Editor answers:

Pick up a sport/hobby. Find something active that you like like tennis, swimming, running, rollerblading and do it everyday when you have free time. You’ll be in better shape in no time and off to a healthy start as a teenager.
